Marlene's South Orange County, CA Real Estate Connection: Property Tax Review for Reduction Just Got Easier In Orange County California

Property Tax Review for Reduction Just Got Easier In Orange County California

It just got easier to apply for a reduction of your property tax bill.  Life PreserverOrange County, CA Assessor Webster Guillory  has been quoted by the Orange County Register as saying that homeowners who are looking at reducing their property taxes due to the downturn in market prices don't have to provide comparable sales to prove that the value of their home has dropped.  Orange County Homeowners who purchased after 2002 are likely to see a reduction in their property taxes by applying.  You still have until April 30th to request an informal review of your tax assessment

Evening Marlene - This is huge news that hopefully will lead to other county assessors taking a proactive position, rather than putting homeowners through a bunch of BS.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Marlene - that's good news. I have helped several people here find comparables for their homes in order to request the temporary reduction. The forms are easy to cmplete...NO ONE shoul dbe paying one of the scammers to do this for them.

Hi Fred - Yes, I think our Orange County Tax Assessor is being very proactive and pragmatic.

Hi Jeff - You're right, the forms are easy.  One of the reasons our Orange County Tax Assessor believes in making it easier for homeowners is to cut the scammers out of a potential target.

Marlene, this is the kind of information that makes you the go-to source in Laguna Hills.  Our process in Miami happens in late summer, after the TRIM notices get mailed out.  I just know our property appraiser is going to be swamped with tax appeals this year.  They should take a tip from your area nd streamline the process.

Marlene,

Some controversy here. We all hear how house prices are down, the market slow. Yet many of us got double the property tax bills based upon "value" increases. Hmmmm.

Maggie - Thanks so much for the great compliment.  I know you are dedicated to your Palmetoo Bay/Redlands real estate clients as well.  You're the go to gal in Florida!

Steven - Yup, good reason Ornge County Homeowners to apply for a review of their property taxes before April 30th.
